In 2007, Topps got a little lazy.
They produced three baseball sets that year featuring Red Sox players, all using the same design. They released their flagship base set, like they do every year. They produced special “team sets” like they have been for several years now. They also produced a special Red Sox set, celebrating their 2007 World Championship. With Mike Lowell, they got a little lazy. They didn’t change the front of the card one bit. It’s the same picture for all three sets. They didn’t do much for the backs either. The only difference they had there was the number. Topps must have thousands of pictures of Mike Lowell, right? Can’t they pick out a different one? Or, at least crop this one differently?
So, while it looks like there are three of the same 2007 Topps Mike Lowell cards, they’re actually different. Or are they?
Happy Mike Lowell Day!
