Hayley Jarvis Visits Section 36!

Section 36 had another visitor! Hayley Jarvis is passionate about diabetes awareness, a talented singer, and the current Miss Catamount's Teen. I was so excited that she wanted to visit with us to discuss those topics, and a few more. 

So, let's see what happens when Hayley Jarvis visits Section 36!

What made you decide to compete for the Miss Vermont’s Teen crown as Miss Catamount’s Teen?

I think having a friend who competed helped but the organization and all the amazing women behind it solidified my decision to compete. I have already made so many connections and can't wait to make them into lifelong friends.

What is something that Charlee Royer is doing as Miss Vermont’s Teen that you would like to emulate?

I love how Charlie is  just so real like in person and on her social medias I really hope to emulate the feeling of being a person because everyone is and it's important to realize. 

What do you enjoy about performing your talent on stage?

Feeling like a popstar and being able to show people something I have done my whole life singing is one of my favorite things to do and I can't wait to share it with everyone. 

How did you select your CSI, bringing awareness to people living with diabetes?

I selected my CSI because I have grown up around people living with diabetes and I learned over the years not enough people know how it is or how to help. i want to be able to end people making assumptions about people based on the disease  

If you could be a Disney character for a week, who would you choose? Why?

I would want to be Tiana because she is a cook and I love cooking my mom is a cook so I grew up around it and it is a big part of my life. 

Is there a feature or activity at a baseball game that you would especially like to experience?

I've always wanted to go to a baseball game and get peanuts. I also just really want to go to a game because baseball has also been in my life for a while I played softball  for a few years and I grew up playing baseball in the yard with my dad and brother  all the time in the summer.

Emma Danaher Visits Section 36!

Section 36 had another visitor! Emma Danaher is passionate about extracurricular activities, a talented painter, and the current Miss Lake Champlain's Teen. I was so excited that she wanted to visit with us to discuss those topics, and a few more. 

So, let's see what happens when Emma Danaher visits Section 36!

What made you decide to compete for the Miss Vermont’s Teen crown as Miss Lake Champlain’s Teen? 

This is my third year holding a local title and competing for Miss Vermont's Teen, each year has been an incredible journey. I continue to compete because it offers a unique opportunity for personal growth and allows me to make a meaningful impact in my community. I chose the title of Miss Lake Champlain's Teen because I believe our lake beautifully captures the spirit of Vermont, and I am proud to represent such a significant part of our state.

What is something that Charlee Royer is doing as Miss Vermont’s Teen that you would like to emulate? 

Charlee’s work with her CSI Beyond the Ribbon is truly inspiring. This nonprofit is a successful 501(c)(3) that provides care boxes for children who have a family member that has been diagnosed with cancer, offering them both support and comfort during difficult times. The positive impact Charlee has made on families through her initiative is incredible. I aspire to emulate this same level of commitment and meaningful contribution through my own CSI, Limitless Miss. My goal is to create a similarly significant impact on our community, providing support and making a difference for youth in the state of Vermont. 

What do you enjoy about performing your talent on stage?

My talent is speed painting, and what I enjoy most about performing it on stage is the excitement of transforming a blank canvas into a piece of art in only 90 seconds. Art has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, and I’ve been painting and creating from a very young age. I believe that art is a fantastic example of how extracurricular activities improve mental health and provide a meaningful way of personal expression. It’s a very unique talent, as very few girls speed paint on the Miss America stage. Watching Sophia Todd, Miss Kentucky’s Teen, win a preliminary talent award at Miss America last year was incredibly inspiring and wonderful.

How did you select your CSI “Limitless Miss”?

I created Limitless Miss as my CSI because extracurricular activities have been essential to my personal growth, both as a young child and into my teenage years. Having participated in over 15 different activities, with baking and basketball being my favorites, I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact they can have. For instance, during challenging times, basketball helped me channel negative emotions into something constructive while staying active. I recognize that not everyone has the same opportunities, often due to financial barriers. Limitless Miss aims to address this by providing scholarships to girls in Vermont, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent them from pursuing extracurricular interests.

If you could be a Disney character for a week, who would you choose? Why?

If I could be a Disney character for a week, I would choose Rapunzel. Her creativity and self-expression through art deeply reflect my own interests. Additionally, her bravery in leaving her tower and exploring the unknown is incredibly inspiring. Facing new challenges can be intimidating, but Rapunzel’s fearless attitude transforms uncertainty into an opportunity for growth. Her story motivates me to embrace life’s uncertainties with confidence and view them as chances to learn and grow.

Is there a feature or activity at a baseball game that you would especially like to experience?

I would love to throw the first pitch at a baseball game. The Vermont Lake Monsters would be the perfect team for this experience, especially since I am Miss Lake Champlain’s Teen and their mascot, Champ, is named after Lake Champlain. It would be an incredible opportunity to showcase my role and engage with the community. Additionally, at this game, I would give away a Limitless Miss Scholarship to a girl passionate about softball. This scholarship could be used to offset the costs of joining a team, training, or purchasing equipment.

Aubrianna Mayette Visits Section 36!

Section 36 had another visitor! Aubrianna Mayette is passionate about self-harm awareness, a talented singer, and the current Miss Northwestern Vermont's Teen. I was so excited that she wanted to visit with us to discuss those topics, and a few more. 

So, let's see what happens when Aubrianna Mayette visits Section 36!

What made you decide to compete for the Miss Vermont’s Teen crown as Miss Northwestern Vermont’s Teen?

I decided to compete in the Miss Vermont program last year. I wanted to do something for my community and once I got into the program. I fell in love with the girls that I compete with.  They’re like a whole new family I didn't know I needed. It's a place where I can relate with girls my age and see what we are all trying to do for our  communities. 

What is something that Ginger Ragaishis is doing as Miss Vermont’s Teen that you would like to emulate?

One thing for sure that I would emulate as Miss Vermont’s Teen from the current Miss Vermont’s Teen, Ginger Ragaishis is her social media.  Her online appearance is impeccable  and I would like to do the same. By doing in person appearances it does help me spread word around the community and state but by having a social media presence will help me spread the word about my CSI further and quicker.

What do you enjoy about performing your talent on stage?

I love to sing. I have sang in the chorus ever since I was in 3rd grade. When I am singing I feel comfortable and safe. It's a part of me that I like to share with others. I feel like music brings people together and by the end of the day that's my goal.

What can you tell me about your non-profit The Orange Ribbon Project?

The Orange Ribbon Project is a non-profit organization I created to spread awareness about Self-harm. We provide information to teens and other young adults on how to get help if they do have thoughts of self harm. Along with other techniques of how to help in stressful situations so they don’t hurt themselves in emotional distress. We also explain to adults such as parents,grandparents, other guardians,and teachers of why teens and other young adults self-harm. So when a teen or young adult asks for help they don’t feel judged or not understood. This is extremely important to me because I was a self-harmer for three years because of bullying. Before I got help I was a wreck. I thought everyone knew and was judging me along with a feeling of not being understood. That's why I want to create a space where teens and young adults can feel safe in their communities. Especially when I started to see this issue in my school and no one was talking about it. So I started the Orange Ribbon Project and started to hand out trigger bags which have fidgets and other calming objects to help the person to calm down in emotional distress. It also has information to help the teen or young adult can reach out to.

If you could be a Disney Character for a week, Who would you choose and why?

It's funny that you mention that because I work for an event company called VT Charming Events,  where I actually work playing Disney Princesses. So that's a tough question to answer.  I guess I would have to go with Belle from Beauty and the Beast because as a kid I could relate to her. I was a kid who loved to read books,care for her family, and lived in a small town where everyone knows everyone.

Is there a feature or activity at a baseball game that you would especially like to experience?

As a part of a family where baseball is all we talk about all year round I would say I would love to go see a Blue Jays game with my dad. My dad has been a fan of the Blue Jays for years, my dad and I have bonded over the team so I think it would be an amazing experience to go to. I have also sang the National Anthem for Vermont’s own Vermont Lake Monsters so I think having an opportunity to sing the National Anthem at a professional baseball game would be a bucket list item, Especially if it was a game where the Red Sox played the Blue Jays. My dads parents and brother are all big Red Sox fans. We are planning to see a game this summer, right now we are trying to decide between Fenway or NYC.

Erica Parks Visits Section 36!

Section 36 had another visitor! Erica Parks is passionate about animal justice, a talented dancer, and the current Miss Greater New York's Teen. I was so excited that she wanted to visit with us to discuss those topics, and a few more. 

So, let's see what happens when Erica Parks visits Section 36!

How did you celebrate winning the Miss Greater New York’s Teen crown?

I was incredibly honored to be crowned Miss Greater New York’s Teen. The weekend was an amazing experience all around: I currently live on my own in NYC and attend the Institute for American Musical Theatre, but my parents and my puppy got to come visit and see me compete! Having them there was so special, and it was extra special getting to celebrate my new title with them! And of course, I had to get myself a sweet treat the next day before heading to rehearsal for my school’s Winter Concert. 

How did you select your CSI, “Paws for a Cause”?

I wanted my CSI to work with animal justice because of how much my dog, Pippa, impacted me. Pippa was a pandemic puppy, because of this she never got to socialize during her puppy phase and instead developed anxiety. I was fighting my own anxiety simultaneously, so we learned to come out of our shells together, which ultimately brought our family so much closer together. I developed Paws For A Cause to provide shelters with the resources they need to get animals into their forever homes to help other animals impact their humans in the same way my dog impacted me. Since then, I’ve had the honor of passing my own piece of animal protection legislation, and have signed a national partnership with the ASPCA, where I advocate for animal welfare at the federal level. 

You started your own business, “Dancer’s Designs Costumes”. How did that come to be?

I was a competitive dancer until I was ten years old when I decided to start acting and dancing professionally. Costuming was always my favorite aspect of both realms. During the pandemic I desperately needed a creative outlet. I saw a TikTok of a dancer unboxing her solo costume for the season and I said “I could make that!” so I did! I ordered a few rhinestones from Amazon and took an old leotard and bedazzled the heck out of it. I posted it to my social medias and was overwhelmed with positive responses. I then decided at fourteen years old I was going to open my small business. I’ve since sold over fifty custom and ready-to-ship costumes, and made every talent costume I’ve ever worn while competing in MAO. I’ve even gotten to bedazzle a few crown boxes! I would also love more than anything to see one of my designs on the Miss America stage, and would be honored to work with any delegate who reaches out to me!

You were able to play the role of “young Mackenzie” in the wonderful Disney+ movie Godmothered. What was that experience like?

The experience I had working on Godmothered was far from what I expected. In hindsight, it really shifted my perspective on the entertainment industry and taught me a lot about myself as an artist and as a person. 

You’ve published a children’s book, “Pippa Finds a Friend”. What can you tell me about it?

“Pippa Finds A Friend” follows the story of my dog, Pippa, as she learns to face her fears by stepping outside of her comfort zone by making a new friend, and how that brought my family so much closer together. I’ve found since publishing the book it not only encourages families considering adopting a pet to take that leap of faith by showing the positive effects it had on my family, but also helps kids step outside of their comfort zones and to make new friends. I got to read it to my third grade teacher’s classroom during winter break, and I had a student raise her hand and tell me how much the book helped her after her pet had passed, and encouraged her family to start the adoption process for a new cat. In addition, I’ve gotten to donate it to numerous libraries and local bookstores, and it has been auctioned off in a raffle basket for Angel Flight New England. It even made Amazon’s top 5 list for New Pet Book Releases its first week. I know this is only the beginning for this book and I could not be more excited to see where it goes next!

Is there a feature or activity at a Red Sox - Yankees baseball game that you would especially like to experience?

I grew up in the Boston area, I served as Miss Boston’s Teen 2023, so going to a Red Sox game was always an exciting experience. Ever since I was little my Mom and I have wanted to meet and get a picture with Wally the Green Monster, so that is definitely high up on my list. Something incredibly special about Fenway Park for me is that my sophomore year of high school, our football team played their Thanksgiving game a few days early at Fenway Park, and I was on the Varsity Cheer Team and got to go cheer on the field, we even got to sit and warm up in the Red Sox’s dugout at halftime! My whole family got to attend the game and although it was less than twenty degrees outside, it was a night I will never forget. I will say, now that I live and hold a title in New York, I do feel obligated to have a little bit of support for the Yankees so maybe one day soon I’ll make my way to see them play (against the Red Sox in their cheering section, of course).

Charlee Royer Visits Section 36!

Section 36 had another visitor! Charlee Royer is passionate about kid's mental health, a talented dancer, and the current Miss Maple Grove's Teen. I was so excited that she was willing to visit with us to discuss those topics, and a few more. 
So, let's see what happens when Charlee Royer visits Section 36!

What made you decide to compete for the Miss Vermont’s Teen crown as Miss Maple Grove’s Teen? 
My first impression of the Miss America Scholarship Organization was from a TikTok. It was a local titleholder who was explaining how she was earning scholarships through Miss America. I sent the video to my mom and told her I wanted to look into it. A little research and a few phone calls later, I was a delegate for Miss Vermont’s Teen 2023. After winning over $1500 in scholarship money as first runner-up, I knew I would continue competing for Miss Vermont’s Teen. Although I originally started to compete for the Scholarships, I have grown to love representing the beautiful state of Vermont where I grew up. I strive to do so on a bigger platform. That’s why I’m competing again this year as Miss Maple Grove’s Teen. 

What is something that Ginger Ragaishis is doing as Miss Vermont’s Teen that you would like to emulate? 
Ginger is a big inspiration for me, especially with her social media presence. She does a fantastic job of creating quality posts that are both relevant and frequent. As a girl who grew up off of social media, posting regularly is something I continue to work on. I look at Miss Vermont’s Teen Instagram pretty regularly to see what Ginger is posting about and use it as inspiration for my posts. 

As a talented dancer, what do you enjoy about performing on stage? 
As a dancer, I have been performing for over 10 years of my life. Ever since I was young, I loved to make the audience feel something. Whether it was a smile on their faces, or occasionally tears, getting to influence the observer’s emotions had always been something I love. A fun fact, I wear my Red Sox Kid Nation Jersey, Pedroia #15 from 2013 to every dance recital! 

How did you select your CSI, “Beyond the Ribbon”? 
Beyond the Ribbon is a non-profit that works to support the

mental well-being of children affected by cancer. When I was 12 my mom was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. I found it extremely taxing to see her so sick, and having to take on new responsibilities to keep our household running was difficult. Whenever I could, I found ways to spend time with her that were not strenuous, such as playing cards or coloring. When I started Beyond the Ribbon, it was a way to show other kids that they aren’t alone and that even though having a family member with cancer is scary, there are people to support you. So, in each of the Beyond the Ribbon care boxes, there is a letter with my contact information and some quiet activities to do with your family.

If you could be a Disney character for a week, who would you choose? Why?

If I were to be a Disney character for a week, I would be Marie from the Aristocats. Getting to be pampered and live the luxurious life of a cat sounds like a dream. Not to mention the adventures she goes on with her siblings and the alley cats. 

Is there a feature or activity at a baseball game that you would especially like to experience?

I have been going to Red Sox games with my family my whole life. My favorite part is getting to sing “Sweet Caroline” with the crowd. I think it is a great time, and always makes my family laugh. I’ve even been lucky enough to sit in Section 36 before!
