2022 Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary Blaster!

Yup. I still have some of this sitting around. Of course, I think Targrt still has some of this sitting around. It's fun though. Since it's technically a 2022 set, you already know the good players in it. It's not hyping the current rookie crop. These polayers all have at least two seasons under their belt by now. It's a completely different feel.

So, how did this box go? Let's find out!

You know the box by now.

And the packs.

As much as I enjoy getting cards of Ted, there's always an "eh" factor with long time retired players like this. Is this really a "Ted Williams" card in my collection? Do I need another one of these? I can't decide.

Even a Pedro card. This doesn't go in my Pedro PC. It's not from his playing days. So, it's just another Red Sox card. Not that I'm annoyed to have it. But, it's not as special as a current player. Even for Pedro.

This isn't a Red Sox card in any way. But, a little "what could have been" since this box included not only this (I think)  Fuchsia Atomic Refractor version /100 but also...

This Rose Gold Refractor /75. It's a Steve Carlton hot box! Now, if only this happened for Pedro! (Or, Julio Rodriguez for that matter).

And there you have it. Two former Red Sox cards, and two numbered HOFers. Not too bad at all.

2022 Topps Chrome Platinum Blaster

How about some more of these? I have to admit they're growing on me. Even if the "Living Set" has saturated the 1953 design, I still find these to be fun. Not to mention that it's just fun to open packs. Right?

Let's see how it went!

You know, the box.

And the packs inside the box.

And a Red Sox card! A shiny Pedro is always welcome in my collection. Nice picture (painting?) of pedro as well.

Unfortunately, that was the only Red Sox in the box. But, just to talk a bit more, how about some players who played for the Sox, but not on these cards?

Like Fisk here. The Red Sox have really done their best to reclaim him as their own. Which is interesting. He certainly played longer in Chicago. It's especially weird now that winning a series three games to four isn't the biggest recent Red Sox highlight.

Love the old Marlins uniform. Don't love this hat. Why does it look so weird?

Speaking of losing a series four games to three, here's a fun one of Perez.

And there you have it. One Red Sox card, and three former players former players. But, still a lot of fun to open.

2022 Topps Chrome Platinum Blaster!

OK. Here's something new. I don't think I even knew what they were when they came out. Probably why it took until now for me to get some. I actually like the concept. Very similar to the Heritage set, this set will perpetually celebrate whatever design was having its platinum anniversary. But with chrome. I think there's a place for that.

Let's see how it went!

Here's the box, with the throwback design.

And the packs as well! Shiny but throwback.

He's the classic 1953 Topps design. This would be better if it wasn't the design Topps is using for its "living set". I've seen this design a lot these days. Also, with Ortiz here, obviously this set will include some retired players. I suppose that's alright.

Or, some REALLY retired players. I'm a little over the "remember when Ruth played for the Red Sox" kick Topps has been on. But, I guess I don't hate it.

Since this was/is a 2022 set, I believe JD counts as a current Sox.

Also, as I say that...it's not the 70th anniversary of the 1953 set. In 2022, it would have been the 70th anniversary of the 1952 set.

Now I'm confused.

Anyone know what's going on? Can I not math?
