Happy Independence Day!

Yeah, I know. Super creative to post this card today. But, at least there's a slightly funny story about it to share.

Like the rest of you, I was anxiously awaiting the debut of 2018 Topps Series 2. That included daily trips to my local Target to scour the card aisle. Unfortunately, not only were there no Series 2, but the entire aisle was practically barren. Just a few repacks and Star Wars cards appeared on the shelves.

Until, finally. One day not long ago, there they were. Eight brand new Topps blasters were clustered together on the shelf. I did a quick confirmation, and they were, in fact, Series 2! I quickly bought a couple blasters and brought them home.

As I opened them, things were a little quizzical. I'm sure you've figured it out by now.

They weren't 2018.

They were 2017.

Somehow, my Target had gotten a shipment (?) of 2017 Series 2 blasters and put them on the shelves just as the 2018 blasters were supposed to be arriving.

How strange.

What are the odds? (Never tell me the odds...)

So, I may have gotten the wrong cards. But, at least the packs provided this cool David Ortiz card.

Just in time to post for Independence Day.
