2022 Topps Heritage Blaster!

Is it possible to open too many of the blasters? If you ask me, it's always fun to open packs...even if it is the same ones ober and over. Right?

Here's what the box looks like. Just in case you forgot...and care that you forgot.

And the packs. Eight of them is actually a pretty good number these days. As sad as that is.

And a great shot of Eovaldi staring down an imaginary batter. One this that just occurred to me, the Red Sox are missing their hedge. What happened to the hedge background that was on every Red Sox Heritage card for years? I miss it greatly.

Xander here seems be somewhere between "confused" and "intimidation". Like the photographer told him to scowl, but Xander wasn't sure who he was supposed to be scowling at. 

But, there you have it. Two Sox cards in the box. At least they're Sox stars.

2021 Topps Stadium Club Blaster!

It's time for another blaster! Another 2021 Stadium Club one. I know we just did one of these, but I apparently was able to grab a few at once, making more for me to open!

Let's see how this one went!

More packs, with the exact same picture as the box.

At this point in my last box, I talked about the weird Master Photo card Topps slipped into the box. This time? I honestly forgot about it, and didn't remember the white card carefully snuck into the white box before it made it to recycling. Hope it wasn't a valuable one. Are there valuable ones?

Not a Red Sox card. But...a couple Red Sox cameos. I wonder what the end result of this picture is. Everyone seems to be looking intently...even if Vazquez seems a bit more laid back. 

Here's a Red Sox card. A nice shot of Chris Sale about to make a batter look foolish.

Another non Red Sox card with a Red Sox cameo. This one has a nice old shot featuring two future Hall of Famers. I'm going to guess Ripken is safe. Any ideas?

So, not the greatest box in the world. One Red Sox card, and two cards of people doing well against the Red Sox. That's no fun.

2021 Topps Series Two Big Blaster Break!

I'm actually assuming that these aren't called "big blasters" but I honestly don't know what else to call them. So, that's what I'm going with. The cards are the same as last time, but there's just more of them.

Let's see how it went!

Here's the box. It's apparently a Target exclusive, which is cool. I should also be on the lookout for exclusive Juan Soto cards. Good to know.

And, since the front didn't mention it, the top of the box mentions all the extra packs I'll find inside.

Just look at them all!

An Arauz rookie. Great shot of number 36!

A fun throwback design of Rafael Devers. The picture captures a lot of action, but doesn't present the best face for Devers.

A nice celebration team card showing the team having a pretty good time.

A sparkly green card of some Yankee. 

A nice action shot of Matt Barnes. The horizontal format really works for this shot.

Look! It's the exclusive Juan Soto I was supposed to be looking out for. Apparently he's not kidding around. The black background is nice too. Wait, are they supposed to be black?

Or...is this a numbered variation? Well done by me!

Basic shot of Arroya batting. I think the cropping really works on this card.

Another rookie. Another crazy action photo. 

Great shot of Eovaldi staring down an opposing batter.

Michael Chavis wondering if he should take another base. I really like these "posed action" type shots. Clearly this is the middle of a play, but it's still a well composed shot.

And, then there's the opposite. As I said last time, this might be the best action shot in the set.

And we close it out with Vazquez threatening to gun down another baserunner.

So, quite the haul. Obviously, the extra packs gave extra opportunities. But, the Red Sox turnout was much appreciated, and the Soto parallel made sure it was a decent box. Very nice all-around.

2020 Topps Series Two blaster!

It's time to open another blaster! Well, actually, it's time to tell you about another blaster I already opened! This time we'll go with 2020 Topps Series 2. These packs are always fun because they offer a lot of variety. How'd I do? Let's see!

Here are the highlights...

Yup. That's the box.

And those are the Packs. Sort of a Mike Trout theme going on here.

Ouch. I didn't need to get that one.

Another now former Red Sox. At least he's still on the team on this card. But, it still hurts.

And here's a guy who is actually pictured as a Red Sox, and still actually plays for the team! I like the use of the horizontal layout for this card. It really helps grab the action.

And, that's it. Two former Sox, and one actual Red Sox. Nothing too spectacular, but always good to get Sox cards in a box.

2019 Topps Update Blaster!

You may remember that the Easter Bunny was good to me this year, bringing plenty of card packs for me to open. I'm still working my way through the boxes. I thought I'd continue to share them with you because, well, some of you might like it.

We'll continue with the next box, a second box of 2019 Topps Update!

I'm sure you've all seen plenty of this set by now. But, you can always skip over this. Right?

So...here are the highlights...

OK. So, not exactly a highlight. But, it's a nice shot of a full box!

The first Red Sox! Shawaryn pitched 14 innings for the Sox in 2019, and gave up 22 earned runs.

Still waiting for Chavis to break out...but might be running out of time. He's only 25...but we'll have to stop using the word "only" pretty soon.

Always nice to get an Eovaldi. He's the Sox ace this year, and one of the few bright spots.

Not exactly bright enough to carry a box, though. This break was a tough one.

Hope you did better.

2019 Topps Heritage High Number Blaster!

You may remember that he Easter Bunny was good to me this year, bringing plenty of card packs for me to open. I thought I'd share them with you because, well, what else am I going to write about?

We'll continue with the next box, the 2019 Topps Heritage High Number!

Bravo Easter Bunny for finding older wax to open. I'm sure you've all seen as much as you care to of this set by now. But, I mean....there still aren't any games being played right now.

So...

See? I wasn't lying. That's really the box I opened.

And there are the eight packs.

OK. What? I'm a fan of multi-player cards. One of the things I love about the regular Topps Update series is that they tend to have lots of these fun cards included. But, "Robbie and Rosy"? What does that even mean? I like a little bit more thought put into it than that. OK, a lot more. I even wondered if they were going for some obscure homage to the original 1970 set, that they had a card like this that was being duplicated. But, the checklist seems to say that't not the case. Any ideas?

One of those hard to store inserts. At least it's of a guy I may be able to move at some point. 

What?

A chance for Topps to squeeze in as many Guerrero cards as possible. A "Now and Then" from a few months earlier.

I'm so Shiny!

Finally, a Red Sox card. Not exactly worth the wait. But, it's nice to have nonetheless. Obviously fond memories of Eovaldi from 2018.

But, if that's the highlight...that's pretty poor.

2019 Topps Heritage High Number Blaster!

I know. I need to get in the habit of doing these posts sooner in the season. But, frankly it takes forever for me to find some of these, and even longer for me to come up with the post. So, you’ll have to deal with me talking about a set after you’ve probably already ripped all the packs you’ll ever care to see. Sorry.

So let’s see how my box of Heritage High Number went! 

As I’m sure most of you know by now, there are 8 packs in the blaster. 

The first pack sure made the opening experience peak pretty early. Not only did it contain one of the hotter rookie cards available in Vladimir Guerrero Jr, but it contained a hit! Of course, I use the term “hit” lightly. At one point in time a Justin Upton jersey might be something to get excited about. This is not that time.

The second pack produced a “Now and Then” insert. Not really sure what the point/theme is supposed to be. I guess relating an event in the “now” to something similar that happened “then”? In any case, this Paul Goldschmidt is a nice little card.

The next pack wasn’t great. If the best card is of a Yankee, that’s never a good sign.

Another not so great pack followed. But, at least this gave a look at the Rookie Performers insert. Or, is it a "Rookie Performers Rookie” insert?

Two better cards in the next pack. There’s a nice shiny card of someone I’ve never heard of. There’s also the first Red Sox card in the box! Nathan Eovaldi sure looks ready to bring the heat.

The next pack was a nice little 2018 World Series reunion. Weird how two of the three are on a new team. It’s also a nice look at the Baseball Stars insert. Cody Bellinger certainly qualifies.

The next pack produced another odd insert with this Miguel Cabrera scratch off. Not sure how I feel about these inserts. The attractiveness certainly isn’t there.

Finishing up with a couple more fun cards. Christian Yelich shows up on an Award Winners insert set, while Jorge Alfaro is shown with his big trophy. Love the old style Topps trophy.

So, there you have it. Nothing spectacular, but lots of solid stuff.
