More Cards! It's a special blaster this time, as we open the very first cards from 2023! It's always exciting to got that first blaster of the year. Finally have those new cards in your hand, and get ready for the upcoming season.

And the packs. Oh, I guess it's Julio this year.
And, now, the first Red Sox card of the year is....
Umm...This. He's not even a Red Sox player...obviously. And, really, what is this insert set? Looking back at past 30/30 club members? With overwhelming graphics over the picture. Bleh. Does an insert really count as a the first Red Sox card of the year? Shouldn't it be a base card of some sort?
How about...
Ok. Here's the actual first Red Sox card of the year! Of...a former Red Sox player. Oh well. Can't win them all.
What do I think of the base card design? I really like it. It's clean, without being too computer graphicy. It seems much more simple that the 2020 design, or even the 2018 overly modern style. If I had to nit pick, the red shading behind the player portrait is a bit too computerized, and it allows the photo behind to barely show through. That's not usually a problem, but sometimes that's a little distracting. I could also use a slightly larger text for the player name. But after the 2021 debacle, I'm not going to complain.
I can't wait to get more of these.
